Biography

Zachary James Woods is a Senior Partner at Lipsitz, Ponterio & Comerford, LLC, and the Director of the firm’s General Personal Injury Department.  He began his legal career representing children injured by exposure to lead-based paint in Buffalo and Rochester, New York.  As a young lawyer, he successfully argued several appeals that helped form the present-day legal standards holding landlords and municipalities accountable for childhood lead poisoning injuries in New York State.  In 2014, he gave the closing argument in the first childhood lead poisoning case to receive a favorable plaintiff’s jury verdict in Erie County, New York’s history.

Today, Zachary represents clients around the State in a wide array of personal injury and legal matters. He has experience representing clients in workplace sexual harassment and sex abuse lawsuits, medical malpractice lawsuits, motor vehicle accident lawsuits, defective product and medical device lawsuits, skiing accident and premises liability lawsuits, as well as in claims brought pursuant to the New York State Labor Law. The versatility of Zachary’s legal skills has allowed him to assist clients outside the context of personal injury litigation.  In the past, he has consulted on insurance coverage matters, represented a local small business with respect to several commercial claims, and successfully defended an individual in a lawsuit alleging assault and battery.

Zachary’s representative appellate decisions include:

  • Washington v. City of Rochester, 156 A.D.3d 1463 (4th Dept. 2017)
