Western New York is not only where we live and work, but is also where many of our attorneys were born and raised. At Lipsitz, Ponterio & Comerford, we are dedicated to improving our community in many ways.

Dedicated to Our Community

Lipsitz, Ponterio & Comerford is dedicated to improving the community where we live and work and where many of our attorneys were born and raised. We donate money to a long list of nonprofit organizations, including the world-renowned Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.  Over the last several years, we have built a strong relationship with the lung cancer and mesothelioma team at Roswell, and we proudly support their lung cancer screening initiatives.

We support Roswell through several initiatives, including the annual  Day of Giving and Breath of Life, an annual event that brings together lung cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones to learn about the latest advances in screening, research, treatment, and more. We also sponsor Taste for Life, an event designed to support groundbreaking lung cancer research. Many of these events directly benefit lung cancer research and screening programs at Roswell. The firm has also held a Facebook campaign that raised $5,000 for mesothelioma research at Roswell and has sponsored Roswell’s All-Star Night, an annual gala benefiting cancer research and patient care.

Committed to Health and Safety

We care about our clients and are committed to their health and safety. In addition to raising money for cancer research, we are proud supporters of groups that safeguard our environments, such as the Clean Air Coalition, and organizations, such as Western New York Area Labor Federation and the Western New York Council on Occupational Safety and Health (WNYCOSH), which protect workers’ rights. We’ve previously held seminars on health issues for workers at the former Durez Plastics facility on Walck Road, Bethlehem Steel, Kodak, Ashland Oil, and Hooker Niagara.

Supporting Art and Culture

Lipsitz, Ponterio & Comerford also supports art and culture in the community.  The firm was a proud sponsor of the Western New York Council on Occupational Safety and Health art exhibit, “Life’s Work” at the Tri-Main Center in Buffalo, New York.  The firm’s clients and their guests were also treated to a private reception and tour of a Cathleen Chaffee-curated mixed-media exhibit, “The Art of Work,” at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Lipsitz, Ponterio & Comerford was also a sponsor of Buffalo String Works, a music program founded by local musicians that cultivate social change and provide high-quality music instruction for refugee children from all over the world.

Committed to Volunteering

We are committed to women’s rights and support our state and local women’s bar associations. We also help senior citizens gain access to legal services through our support of The Center for Elder Law and Justice.  Our firm and some of our attorneys belong to professional organizations, such as the American Association for Justice, the American Association for Trial Lawyers, and the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association. We have served on numerous boards and volunteer organizations throughout the community, including Canisius College Board of Regents, Lou Gehrig Youth Baseball and Softball, Mount Mercy Academy, Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Association, WNY BloodCare, Western New York Legal Center, the Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the WNY Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, The Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, Minority Bar Association of Western New York Foundation, Inc.,  Bar Association of Erie County,  National Federation for Just Communities, SUNY Buffalo Law Alumni Association, Girls on the Run of Buffalo, Inc., WNY Women’s Foundation, Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York,   Western New York Council On Occupational Safety & Health,  the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Town of Grand Island Lawnmower Race, and  SUNY Geneseo Regional Board of Directors.
